History

Culpepper Realty was established in 1937 when John Cecil Culpepper, Sr. started his real estate business near Texas A&M University. One year later the City of College Station, Texas was incorporated. Cecil Culpepper was actively developing housing in Bryan, Texas for the Air Force base and in College Station, Texas for Texas A&M faculty and staff.

Cecil Culpepper helped achieve the licensing of Texas Realtors and served on the first Texas Real Estate Commission. He developed the first major residential subdivision, shopping center, apartment complex and medical complex, served as the first president of Bryan-College Station Realtors, and employed the first female real estate salesperson in Brazos County, Texas.

Culpepper Realty continued to grow in the 1960's as John Cecil Culpepper, Jr. joined his father in business. With more focus on commercial development, together they developed the first enclosed shopping mall in Brazos County and several retail shopping centers.

 

During the 1970's, 1980's and 1990's John brought the development and expansion of shopping centers to Texas communities like Paris, Brenham, Navasota, Alice, Beaumont, Big Spring, Kingsville, Kerrville, Corsicana, Mt. Pleasant, adding new grocery stores, Wal-Mart Stores, department stores, restaurants and theaters. In Bryan-College Station, he developed the Galleria Office Tower and Culpepper Plaza Shopping Center.

From the 1990's and into the 21a century John Cecil Culpepper, Jr. along with his son John Cecil "Jack" Culpepper III has continued in the real estate business. Jack Culpepper established Stalworth Corporation as a property management company emphasizing renovation and redevelopment of the properties built by his grandfather and father. Jack has developed commercial property in College Station, Cameron, Cleveland, Corsicana and Bryan.
